An SUV slammed into the front of a pharmacy in Northern Westchester, sending glass and merchandise flying.
The crash took place around 12:22 p.m. Friday at the Pleasantville Pharmacy at 63 Wheeler Ave.in Pleasantville, said Pleasantville Police Chief Erik Grutzner.
The crash occurred when a man driving a Toyota Highlander, who was parked in front of the pharmacy, backed out of his parking space and hit a passing car on Wheeler Avenue. He then put the car in forward and went to go back into his parking space, but instead of stopping he hopped the curb and smashed into the store, the chief said.
A woman inside the store was injured when she was hit by the door and taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Grutzner said.
The man and his wife, who was also in the vehicle, were not injured.
The vehicle has been removed and the pharmacy is still open to fill prescriptions for people in need, but not for shopping, Grutzner said.
Management plans to board up the building later Friday and the have the storefront repaired within the next few days.
"All of the alarms are still working, so the business should be safe," the chief added.
The two crashes are still under investigation.
